Work, relationships, identity and the balance between them change course over one's lifetime. Managing these transitions can be overwhelming. Evelyn's work is the support and facilitation of meaningful, affirmative change.
The stages of transition appear in the *reverse* order of the way we are accustomed to thinking about a process. Starting with an ENDING process, we move toward the LIMBO stage and then to a new BEGINNING.
Before we start out on the journey toward a new place, we need to thoughtfully and thoroughly attend to loose ends in the place we are leaving. Skipping this part of the process usually results in an unsatisfactory outcome.
Common experiences during the Ending phase:
DISENGAGEMENT from the people and activities we are leaving
DISENCHANTMENT with the values associated with the place we are leaving
DISIDENTIFICATION with the role we are accustomed to playing
2. 2. LIMBO.
Typically this is the longest-lasting and most difficult portion of the journey. We experience the disintegration of our former identity, though we have not yet incorporated the new one.
Common feelings during the Limbo phase include
*EMPTINESS* *ANXIETY * *AMBIVALENCE* * ISOLATION* *CHAOS*
BE
3. BEGINNING
During this time, there is a strong sense of hope and renewal.
At the Beginning phase, we typically experience
RE-INTEGRATION of our new circumstances with our sense of self and world view
MASTERY of a new role as we gain comfort and greater facility within the new set of
circumstances
RENEWAL: A newly re-integrated sense of self leads to liberation and greater fulfillment.
